2020 Freemasons University Scholarships

Freemasons New Zealand through The Freemasons Charity funded $200,000 in Freemasons University Scholarships.
The Freemasons University Scholarships have been around for 42 years and have funded scholarships totaling $6 million to 1200 students.
Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be featuring some of our Freemasons University Scholarship recipients, as the National Presentations at Parliament were cancelled this year due to Covid-19. This is the 42nd year that The Freemasons Charity has awarded scholarships to students across New Zealand. We remain pleased to be able to support scholars who show academic excellence and community service in our communities.

Joshua Losefo - Joshua is a post-graduate student from Ōtāhuhu. He will be studying towards a Master of Philosophy in Communication Studies at @AUT. He is passionate about representing his community through film making. Get to know Joshua by watching his short video.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Grace Mitchell - Grace is from Te Kowhia in the Waikato and is studying towards a Masters of Science @Waikato and her thesis is on urban forest restoration impacts on soil biodiversity in nine New Zealand cities. Hear and see her video.

Hannah Hudson - Freemasons scholarships help to enable some of our country’s future leaders. Notably, Jacinda Ardern was once a Freemasons scholar. Freemasons New Zealand continue to be committed to supporting young people through their studies.

Hannah Hudson studies a Bachelor of Science majoring in geography at the University of Canterbury. She is a 2020 Freemasons scholar learning many interdisciplinary skills which she will soon be able to apply to help communities all over the country when she finishes her degree. Kaylee Bird - Kaylee is from Welcome Bay, Tauranga and is studying towards a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons) majoring in Strategic Management @Waikato. See her video story here.

 

 

 

 

Madison Hill - Madison from St Albans, Christchurch is studying towards a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) @Otago at its Christchurch campus. A top scholar who already holds a Bachelor of Science, Madison is aiming for a career in medical research - especially neuroscience. See what Madison has to say in her short video.

 

 

 

Mandy Clouston - The Freemasons Charity has donated almost $6 million towards 1,200 New Zealand scholars from all across the country. We are committed to supporting the next generation in their studies.

Mandy Clouston is from Masterton and she is working towards a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary). Beginning her career in education, she worked as a teacher aid before realising she wanted to extend herself by studying to become a primary school teacher. Have a watch to hear about Mandy’s story and how she is using her Freemasons scholarship.

 

 

 

 

 

Megan Poehler - Freemasonry is about helping people reach their potential. Our Freemasons Scholarships seek to do this for the leaders of tomorrow. Megan Poehler is one of our scholarship recipients who working towards her Bachelor of Science in physics and mathematics at the University of Canterbury. Have a watch to see how she wants to engage with her community and foster innovation in the future.

Lissy Fehnker is a Massey University Post Graduate doing a PHD in Envirnonmenal Management. She wants to become a Lecturer and Researcher and go to Small Island Developing States in the Pacific to research connections between people and nature. She original trained as a Jeweller but find that environment issue are her passion.
