The Freemasons Charity Paramedicine Scholarships

A new initiative designed to support students pursuing a qualification to become a Paramedic. This scholarship is available to those studying either on-campus or via distance learning at Whitireia/WelTec.
Value: Up to $5,000
Number Available: Up to 10 scholarships. The program aims to ensure representation across the Southern Division, with at least one recipient intended from each district.
One $5,000 Scholarship may be awarded to students studying on-campus or two scholarships of $2,500 each may be awarded to Students studying by distance learning.

Lawson-Smith Freemasons Education Trust Veterinary and Animal Science Scholarships
For students who are active in their communities and who are enrolled in their 3rd or 4th year of a BVSc course of study at Massey University.
Value: Up to $10,000
Number available: Four awards

History
These scholarships have been established under the terms of the Will of the late Max Lawson-Smith, to promote and support the studying of veterinary programmes programs at Massey University.
Heartland Bank Freemason Scholarships
The Heartland Bank Freemasons Scholarships are provided annually by Heartland Bank under the auspices of Freemasons New Zealand and are administered by The Freemasons Charity.
Value: $6,000
Duration: One year’s duration
Number available: Three awards
Applications open: 1 November 2024 (midnight start of day)
Closing date: 2 February 2025 (midnight end of day)
These scholarships are to assist family members of Freemasons, who are current Year 13 students and are active in their communities. This year, three Scholarships of $4,000.00 each will be available, one per Division of Freemasons New Zealand. The Divisions are geographical – Northern, Central and Southern.
Hugh McDougall Rankin Tertiary Scholarships
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to science students that studied in Christchurch both at state secondary school and tertiary institution levels.
Value: Up to $7,000
Duration: One year’s duration
Number available: One at each of University of Canterbury, Ara Institute of Canterbury, and Lincoln University

The late Hugh McDougall Rankin set up the Rankin Education Trust Scholarships to award high-performance undergraduate students and to assist their tertiary education in Christchurch. Hugh McDougall Rankin also wanted to provide educational support and opportunities by increasing students’ scientific skills and qualifications.
